Instructions to make Idli-Sambar with Chutney:
  1. Idli Recipe
  2. Heat oil in a pan
  3. Add mustard seeds & allow it to crackle
  4. Add chopped green chillies, ginger & curry leaves.Fry for 1-2 mins.
  5. Add Rava into the pan & roast in slow heat for 3-4 mins.
  6. Cool the mix.
  7. Add sour curd, salt to taste & baking soda in to the mix.
  8. Add water if needed & make a thick paste. Set aside & wait for 10 mins.
  9. Grease the idli stand.
  10. Put the mix in the idli stand & microwave it for 5-7 mins by placing a water bowl inside the microwave.

  13. Grate Coconut
  14. Dry roast gram in separate pan.
  15. Grind coconut & gram in mixer. Add salt to taste
  16. Heat oil
  17. Add mustard seeds, curry leaves, dry chillies. Allow them to crackle.
  18. Add grinded mix. Your chutney is ready.

  20. Boil pigeon pea or tuvar dal in a pan with salt & turmeric powder till soft.
  21. Boil veggies in pan till soft.
  22. Mix boiled Tuvar dal & veggies.
  23. Heat oil. Add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, curry leaves, dry chillies. Crackle add dal-veggies mix.
  24. Add tamarind pulp/juice.
  25. Add coriander seeds powder.
  26. Boil & sprinkle green coriander leaves on top. Your sambar is ready
