The ingredients needed to cook Chanar Paturi:
  1. Prepare 300 grams chanaa
  2. Provide 1/2 cup grated coconut
  3. You need 3 tablespoons mustard seed paste
  4. Prepare 3 tablespoons plain yoghurt
  5. Get 1 teaspoon sugar
  6. You need 3-4 slitted green chilli
  7. Get 2 tablespoon mustard oil
  8. Get to taste Salt
  9. Use 1-2 whole banana leaf
Instructions to make Chanar Paturi:
  1. Grind black mustard seeds with two green chillies to a smooth paste in a mixer.
  2. In a bowl mash paneer/chana until lump free.
  3. Add in mustard-chilli paste,grated coconut,salt,sugar,plain yoghurt and mustard oil.Mix them well and keep aside.
  4. Heat the banana leaf sheets from one edge to another (glossy side down)over low flame for a seconds.This will help it to become more pliable so that it can be easily folded without breaking.
  5. Now place some of the paneer mix in the centre along with a chilli and fold them to make it a square parcel.
  6. Tie with thread that the parcel will not open while cooking and keep them aside.Repeat this process with rest of the cottage cheese/chana mix.
  7. Now heat a non-stick tawa,grease it with some mustard oil and place all the folded banana leaf parcels.
  8. Cover and cook for 6-7 minutes in a low flame.
  9. Carefully flip them over and cook the other side for 5-6 minutes or till done.
  10. Serve the chana or cottage cheese paturi with hot steamed rice.
