- Use 1 1/4 cup Raw Rice
- You need 3/4 cup moong Dal
- You need 1 inch Ginger
- Provide 1 tsp Black pepper powder

Instructions to make Venpongal:
- Wash rice and dal and drain it,take cooker add butter,chop ginger into small cubes and roast it in the butter,add pepper and fry them,then add cumin seeds and allow them to splutter,add asafoetida,curry leaf,and now add washed and drained rice and dal and saute it.
- Add salt as per the taste and add 7 to 8 cups of water and wait upto 5 to 6 whistles,and switch off the flame.
- Since the ginger and cumin is added to the pongal,it gives good aroma.Serve it with coconut chutney.
